LOUISA MAY ALCOTT PROJECT

< prior project      next project >

Nancy Porter Productions

Nancy Porter, an award winning producer and director of documentary films and Harriet Reisen, a producer, director and writer approached us in the summer of 2005 with the news that they were planning to co-direct and produce a PBS documentary about the life and work of Louisa May Alcott. Based on our website for Tupperware!, The Complex was their first choice to design and produce the supporting web site which is to be the foundation for a network of films, published media and educational programs.

Diving into the assignment, Joe Gilford, copywriter and Jonathan Tessler met with the co-directors to discuss the creative strategy and direction of the web site. Biography Magazine's Kathy Passero, came on board to lend her talents to historical research, writing and editing.

We provided them with an overarching creative strategy, information architecture, copywriting, art direction, graphic design, development and testing and a unique Flash-animated navigation and interactive historical timeline.

The film is currently in production and is slated to premiere on WNET's American Masters on PBS in 2009, but you can view this fascinating glimpse into Louisa May Alcott's life and work on the web right now.
